ちょっとご無沙汰してしまいました。
息子の治療で和歌山の病院へ1週間ほど入院してきました。
我が家は埼玉なのですが、息子はいくつかの遠方の病院にお世話になっています。
手術は岡山の病院、退院後、経過観察で通っている外来は神奈川の病院。
そして今回は不整脈の検査ということで和歌山の病院にお世話になりました。
はじめてこんなお話をすると「うわぁ、大変だねぇぇ」と皆さん言ってくださいますが、それぞれ素晴らしい病院や先生に診ていただけているので、その感謝の気持ちの方が大きく、納得して医療を受けています。
ニュースでは色々と問題が取りざたされていますが、やはり日本の医療制度や福祉制度は充実していて世界に誇れる点がたくさんあると思いますよ。
病院を自分で選択できること、これも当たり前のようですが、とても大切なことだと私は思います。
この点についてはまた機会があったら書かせていただくとして。
今回での和歌山での1週間の入院生活。
本来の目的の治療の効果もさることながら、息子の成長に大きく影響を与えてくれました。
息子は病院嫌いの検査嫌い。
だいたい心電図、レントゲン、エコーなどの検査が必要になるのですが、どの検査も暴れて号泣するので、数分で終わるところが何倍も時間がかかることがあります。
息子の力も強くなり落ち着かせるのも一苦労。
何より息子のストレスが伝わってくるので、付き添う私もヘトヘトに疲れます。
今回はじめて会った先生は、そんな様子を見て、私に一喝！
「お母さん、この子は騙し騙しやっても通用しない。きちんと自分の病気を受け止めさせて、納得するまで諭しなさい！」
はて、2歳の子にどうやって諭すのか。
今までも家で「ごっこ遊び」として検査のマネごとをしたり、関連の絵本を読んだりして、私なりに工夫してきたつもりでした。
でも確かにそれは「騙し騙し」の工夫だったのかも。
今回の入院では、検査の前に抱っこをしながら、病気のこと、検査や医療行為が必要で、大切なこと、先生も看護師さんも息子のために頑張ってくれていること、落ち着いてやれば痛みもなくすぐに終わること・・・
とくとくと話しました。
息子は聞いてるんだか聞いていないんだか。
うん、うんとは返事は返ってくるものの、表情はポカーンとしていてほとんど手応えなし。
やっぱり理解するのは無理だよね、と思っていたのですが。
ところがどっこい、効果があったのです。
なんと長時間のエコーも心電図も起きたまま泣かずにちゃんと出来ました。
好きなビデオやおもちゃの助けも大きいけど、ちゃんと落ち着いて自ら協力体制になったことがすごい。
その後も毎日の看護師さんの聴診や計測も泣かずに落ち着いて出来るようになりました。
諭すっていう意味がちょっとわかったような気がします。
まだ小さくても、会話は出来なくても。
こっちが真剣に語る姿勢が迫力となって伝わるものかなと。
また、病院側も、子どもに何か医療行為をするときに、子どもがスタンバイ状態になるまで、しっかり待ってくれる雰囲気が徹底されていました。
これもビビリの息子にはとても効果的で、心の準備ができてから、いろいろとはじめられるので、本人なりに受け入れられて、落ち着いて検査ができたようです。
それに入院していると同室のほかのお子さんの様子も垣間見れて、子どもなりに良い影響を与えあっているのかな、と思います。
入院生活も親子の学びの場です。
今回の入院も、とても良い経験をさせていただきました。
